The term gap , a derivation of the Frankish word breka ("broken" ), is used to name a break , gap or opening . The concept is often used to refer to breaks in walls or walls. For example: "The gap in the fortress wall allowed the invaders to enter".

Gap, however, can be applied in various areas, such as a head injury or a break in the front of combat . The word is also used in symbolic sense to name the loophole where something begins to lose its certainty or security : "The president's explanation left a gap that was used by the opposition to make strong criticisms".

However, we also have to establish that there is what is known as gap marble. This we can say is that type of marble that is characterized primarily by the fact that it is composed of fragments of different shapes but very angular that also have the peculiarity of having different colors that give it a different presence.

Under the term gap we also have to underline the existence of a means of communication that is titled in that way. We are referring to the weekly "Gap" that was founded in 1985 in Uruguay and which addresses issues of both political and cultural nature. It is important to underline that this publication has its origin in a previous weekly called "March" that was closed in the 70s by the government dictatorship of the moment.

For the geology , a gap is a conglomerate It is formed with small fragments of rock joined by some kind of natural cement. According to the training process, we can talk about different types of gap: a sedimentary gap it appears when the stones, shells and other bodies were buried by very fine sediments that, after consolidation, imprisoned them (for example, the tilita); a volcanic gap , on the other hand, is one that is constituted by the demolition of volcanic rocks; a tectonic gap Finally, it is formed when there is a slip between the two lips of a fault (as in the case of the milonite).

It is important to keep in mind that the conglomerate of the gaps is always formed by angular fragments and larger than 2 millimeters, unlike the sand components. There is monogenic gap (with components of the same nature) and the polygenic gap (with elements of different types).

In addition to all this we have exposed we can also make it clear that there are several adverbial phrases that make use of the aforementioned term that we are analyzing. Among them there is one that is used very frequently within the colloquial scope. It is specifically the expression "in the gap." With it, what is clear is that someone is working or fighting for a specific issue.

In the same way is also the verbal phrase "beat in gap." In this case it has several meanings, the most widely used being the one that states that it means that someone is being persecuted with the clear objective of knocking it down.
