The word review , originating in Latin criticus, identify the opinion, exam or judgment which is formulated in relation to a situation, service, proposal, person or object. Criticisms usually manifest publicly and revolve around the content of an artistic work, a show, a book, etc. For example: “The new Woody Allen movie received excellent reviews”, “Rolling Stone magazine published a very interesting review of the Pearl Jam concert”, "The poet said he never reads the criticism of experts about his work".
According to the theory, the concept of criticism is used to define the individual thinking that appears in a media outlet, the opinion group regarding a given work that are attributed to public opinion and the set of individuals specialized in exercising criticism in mass media. Thus it can be said: "Journalist John Roaly has just published his review of Lady Gaga's new album" (an individual criticism), "The singer's last CD did not receive good reviews" (set of reviews), “Critics have condemned the latest record of the Pop star” (criticism as a set of critics).
At language everyday, it is known as critical the reprobation, attack or censorship of a thing or being : “I didn't like the criticism Esteban made for not calling Ruben”, "Yanina is tired of criticism for her haircut", "Don't get mad, it's just a constructive criticism to help you improve".
Internet has turned criticism into an excessive and daily action, offering users the possibility to share their opinions with the entire world. While there are filters and control methods to eliminate aggressive comments, such as racist or sexist phrases, no one is required to report before writing, or to respect spelling and grammar rules. The result of so much freedom is information unfounded, dirty and virtually useless; endless tracks of messages adorned with insults and derogatory phrases (product of fanaticism) that seek to decide who is better between two singers, or who discuss the superiority of an electronic device.
We can all watch a figure skating competition on television; but very few can give your opinion about the performance of the contestants, indicate weaknesses or virtues at the technical level. In fact, only skaters know why they make certain decisions and how difficult each movement is. Within a context of wisdom, anyone would agree with these words; However, the possibility of criticizing has a very strong appeal, and tempts us to say what we think even when we know that we do not have the tools to provide a constructive or interesting idea.
Criticism, on the other hand, is an adjective that can refer to what is related to the idea of crisis . The critical thing is the moment or state in which the crisis occurs: "We are facing a critical situation that requires an immediate response from the authorities". Psychology considers that evolution occurs when passing through these situations, which can be plotted as the curves of a spiral that ascends infinitely. Every time a person is able to climb one of these slopes that life presents, it matures a little more and inevitably addresses another crisis.
On the other hand, when someone refuses to go through a crisis, they are circling on the same level, so all aspects of their lives are affected by such a decision. Various sayings and popular sayings try to teach us that "from mistakes we learn", that "there is no harm that for good does not come", and the reality is not very different, given that these obstacles or critical moments are indispensable for our increase.
